The Challenge
Clark, Wilson is one of Vancouver's larger law firms with over sixty lawyers representing
British Columbia businesses. With a significant amount of correspondence now being conducted via email, Clark, Wilson
realized it needed an independent system to provide data backup of email archives.
Solution
When Don Kerr, Systems Manager for Clark, Wilson, started looking for a secondary backup system, he wanted to implement
one that was self-contained and automated.
"After looking at our options, I decided that the EssentialServer was the best choice. We needed something that was
100% reliable and easy to use" he added.
Clark, Wilson already had a primary backup system but it wasn't setup to provide storage and backup of emails.
With the addition of the EssentialServer, Don Kerr was able to add that necessary level of protection without disrupting
current backup procedures. "It took me ten minutes to setup the EssentialServer. It was extremely easy and fast to
install. It is completely automated and performs backup at regularly scheduled times."
"The EssentialServer is working very well. Within the next month, I will be looking to expand its use and integrate
it into workstation backup," said Kerr.
The EssentialServer offers four levels of protection and security. The data files are stored on the user's computer,
saved from the user's workstation to the EssentialServer, either mirrored or striped across RAID drives and then backed
up to tape or CD.
Benefits
Clark, Wilson now has a backup, storage and disaster recovery solution for all their email correspondence. As the firm
looks to expand its use of the EssentialServer, they are guaranteed a backup solution that provides a simple and integrated
data solution with a high level of data protection.
