ADMINISTRATION


Controller

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will ensure the Company has the information necessary to effectively measure financial performance, manage cash flow and report its business activities in a manner that supports decision-making. The role has a key responsibility for leading the day-to-day financial reporting, treasury, budgeting and accounting processes.

The ideal candidate will have a professional designation (CMA, CGA) or be nearing graduation. On a personal level, the candidate will be a detail-oriented, team player who brings superior interpersonal skills and the intellect to understand the basic concepts behind a dynamic high tech organization.

Duties:

  • Responsible for the coordination of the external audit including the preparation and compilation of all necessary documentation and reports related to the audit
  • Financial management, including departmental budgeting and cash management
  • Preparing financial reports for P/L, Balance Sheet, cash flow, and others
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports and analysis to aid in profitably managing the business
  • Manage the accurate and efficient processing of transactions to accounting systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial sales tax regulations, including customer billing, and capture of input tax credits
  • Supervise the cost accounting function, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the costing and inventory systems
  • Implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Financial Policies
  • Provide accurate and timely account reconciliations
  • Supervise accounting and administrative personnel

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Designation (or nearing graduation)
  • Strong management accounting skills with experience in internal reporting
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, and accounting software (AccPac for Windows Small Business Edition Ver.4.2 with emphasis on Inventory and Manufacturing modules)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good English skills both written and verbal

Channel Sales Manager - Toronto (GTA), ON

Working from a home office, you will be responsible for selling our line of Network Attached Storage and Backup products - the Essential Server throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada. Reporting to our National Sales Manager, our ideal candidate has a proven track record of selling technology products (preferably related to storage and backup) through the reseller channel. Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to succeed in a challenging environment? Have you demonstrated an uncanny ability to develop and maintain relationships with Value Added Resellers? We want to hear from you!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote and sell all Merlin products to existing partners via telephone and in-person consultations
  • End user sales calls and promotion within targeted verticals
  • Continually monitor the market for new opportunities in order to grow and develop account base at the reseller and end user level
  • Provide NSM with regular monthly forecasts based on current products and market conditions
  • Provide NSM weekly “pipeline” information of immediate business requirements
  • Revenue generation and forecast retirement within a specific group of accounts
  • Marketing activities within select groups of accounts targeted towards specific vertical markets
  • Provide training to channel partners
  • Develop and conduct sales presentations tailored for groups and individuals
  • Attend trade shows to represent Merlin, Merlin’s products and generate leads
  • Travel Required

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years sales experience with a technical product line, preferably related to storage or security products
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with tier 1 value-added resellers in a technical, B2B channel
  • Experienced in creating and delivering channel partner training
  • Proven track record of developing innovative and profitable channel solutions
  • Superior relationship building, interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional selling and negotiating skills via telephone, presentations and trade shows
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, and proven ability to manage a large number of responsibilities and resources

MANUFACTURING


Production Manager (Contract)

The Production Manager's primary responsibilities include: Budgeting, Production, Planning and Optimization in order to ensure Merlin's overall business objectives are met: delivery on time, materials cost reduction, assembly time reduction, process improvement, reliability improvement and new products / features introduction on existing as well as future products.

As an active member of a core team, you will work closely with sales, engineering, product management and customer service to ensure both the inventory and finished products are available to meet immediate pipeline demands, and sales forecasts.

Inventory Management

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory, costing, budgeting and purchasing, of parts/components as well as finished products and shipping supplies (i.e. boxes, labels, etc.)
  • Monitor inventory required to meet orders and make adjustments as required and to minimize part shortages
  • Work with product managers to source new components/product hardware

Management of entire production process

  • Develop efficiency standards and performance measures. Monitor the efficiency of operation and make improvements to the production
  • Continually research, design and develop architectural changes and enhancements that result in cost and expense savings for production
  • Prioritizes production activity based on master scheduling, product mix, equipment efficiencies and available materials

Internal Responsibilities (Inter-Departmental)

  • Provide direction or updates to any other departments involved or affected
  • Ensures departmental objectives are met in regards to production, quality and cost
  • Manage internal dissemination of units

External Relationships

  • Maintain and manage outsourcing relationships and processes
  • Work with manufacturers to streamline production and ensure manufacturing of components is optimized for cost effectiveness/li>

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of computer components
  • Experience implementing an MRP System from the ground up
  • Management experience in a manufacturing/production role required
  • Proven abilities in troubleshooting
  • Excellent knowledge of excel spreadsheets with a strong grasp and understanding of numbers
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills needed to work on a daily basis with all production facilities, suppliers/vendors, and distribution facilities. ACCPAC for Windows knowledge is a definite asset
  • Exceptional time management skills and an ability to work under pressure in a deadline oriented environment
  • Strong leadership and a knack for exhibiting good judgment when having to make quick decisions in pressure situations

Electronics/Hardware Assembler (On-call, temporary, could lead to a permanent, full-time position)

The Electronics/Hardware Assembler will assemble product and conduct appropriate testing procedures to ensure a fully functional and complete product is shipped to clients.

Duties:

  • Build and test product in accordance with Purchase Order/bill of materials.
  • Report any problems such as product defects or incompatibility issues to team lead.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Relevant courses or diploma in computer electronics assembly and/or testing.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer components and assembly, 2+ years hands-on experience.
  • Ability to solve technical issues under the pressure of time constraints.
  • Must be flexible and ready to accept new challenges as rapid growth in the company requires frequent job / priority changes. Challenges will be based on the individual's abilities and skillset.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbally and written) in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
