Las Vegas, NV - November 13, 2000 - MERLIN Software Technologies (OTCBB: MLSW) a leading
provider of Linux based software applications and utilities, today unveiled its Communicado Fax
product for the first time on the show floor of Comdex Fall's Linux Business Expo.
This world premiere of Communicado Fax establishes it as the first Linux fax server that
allows users to fax from any application on any platform.
MERLIN develops high quality applications software for the Linux operating system. Known for
such award-winning software as PerfectBACKUP+6.2, a fast, easy and powerful system backup
application. MERLIN's applications operate on all major Linux distributions including Caldera
(CALD) OpenLinux, eServer, TurboLinux, RedHat (RHAT), SuSE, Debian, Mandrake, and the Corel (CORL)
Linux.
Communicado is the first fax suite to combine application based print-to-fax from multi-platform
clients (ranging from StarOffice and Wordperfect under Linux/Unix to Microsoft Office under
Windows/Macintosh) with a powerful multi-line server platform based on the stability and
scalability of the Linux platform. Communicado represents a powerful combination of strengths
seldom found together in enterprise products -- cost effective, feature-filled, and broad platform
support. Communicado Fax is a fifth generation development effort, arising from the popular
HotWireFAX. The development team behind Communicado has long history of market leading Fax products
for many platforms.
"With Communicado, we have combined the affordability and reliability of Linux servers with the
flexibility of allowing any platform, including Microsoft Windows, to fax from any application,"
said Robert Heller, President and Founder of MERLIN, "Our product is well positioned to capitalize
on the growing business penetration of Linux servers and their co-existence with other platforms
such as Microsoft Windows."
Both personal and corporate users will find that Communicado Fax has a wide range of features to
address any need. In addition to the ease-of-use and performance quality found in all MERLIN
products, Communicado Fax's unique features include:
- broad hardware compatibility (support for a wide range of industry standard modems)
- broad application compatibility (WordPerfect, StarOffice, Applixware)
- user conveniences such as address books, built-in fax viewer with thumbnails, and cover pages
- power features such as broadcasting, forwarding and detailed usage reporting and accounting
- support for multiple inbound and outbound lines
Communicado Fax Personal edition allows single user Linux workstations equipped with a fax modem to
effortlessly send, receive and manage faxes.
Communicado Fax Enterprise edition allows enterprises of all sizes to deploy a client-server fax
solution that provides fax transmission from any Linux, Solaris, Windows or Macintosh computer in
an enterprise network.
