Merlin Products Receive FCC and UL Certification

Burnaby, BC - June 5, 2002 - Merlin Technologies (OTCBB: MLSW) today announced that both its EssentialServer^TM and SecurDVR^TM product lines have been certified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. as listed products eligible to bear the UL® Mark, and have been certified by a recognized independent laboratory as complying with applicable U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) standards. These certifications not only validate the products as meeting strict engineering standards, but are also a critical step necessary for the launch of the Company's products into the US and other markets.

Merlin also announced today that it is shipping a Spanish version of its SecurDVR, which Merlin believes is a prerequisite for success in the US market.

Merlin's SecurDVR is a network attached digital video recorder (DVR) designed and implemented specifically as a proactive security and loss prevention solution.
